Well, hello there! I’m Beth and I’m super glad you’ve found yourself here! 21710

In a nutshell, I love food. I love making it. I love eating it. I love learning about it. I love sharing it with others. Are you with me?

I’ve spent the last 13 years making delicious food, or making things that inspire other people to make food. I currently work as a freelance food stylist, recipe developer, and food content creator. My path to get here has been nothing short of delicious.

  • I helped market the launch of a very cool food-tech start up company.
  • I baked my way through 8 years in the test kitchen and content development department at Wilton Industries, where I created hundreds of sweet and savory recipes and appeared in dozens of YouTube videos and online cooking classes. I even sold products live on HSN – what a trip!
  • In 2011, I won an episode of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars with my cake mentor, Milette Raz.
  • I baked and decorated thousands and thousands of cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations at some of Chicago’s best bakeries. It’s pretty special to have played a part in so many parties. I still make cakes for my family celebrations, mostly to win the title of “most favorite aunt” from my nieces and nephew.

I live in Chicago with my boyfriend Geoff. He’s French, and if it’s possible, he loves food even more than I do. We cook often, raise a glass with friends and family whenever we can, and enjoy the amazing restaurant scene here. In the small spaces in between eating, cooking, and shopping for food, I love biking the Chicago lakefront in the early morning, taking long aimless walks, and reading David Sedaris. I’m learning to speak French, and will watch pretty much anything French I can find (with subtitles for now) on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

If you’ve found yourself here, welcome! Thanks for coming! Kick off your shoes and stay a while. I would love to know a little more about you. What’s your earliest food memory? (Mine is driving to McDonald’s with my Grandfather after he picked me up from preschool.) How do you like your steak cooked? (I’m a medium rare kinda gal.) What’s your go-to meal when you don’t feel like cooking? (Is stovetop popcorn and Sancerre a meal? I think so.) Your all time favorite food-centric movie? (I could watch Big Night over and over. Love Stanley Tucci!) Leave me a comment below!

  1. Hi Beth! Just checked out your blog, looks amazing. I saw you on my twitter (bululu handmade cupcake toppers, favor tags…) Thanks for following me! I am just starting my business 🙂 so I am very happy to start having followers like you and finding great blogs like this one. Love cupcake wars!

  2. Hello Beth, want to talk to you about selling our candyflowersandchocolate candy making kits allowing people to make these beautiful designs on their own, would love to hear your thoughts. By the way you are amazing.

  3. You are unique. Your hobby helps to eradicate hunger ( I get my stomach full just by imagining those recipes). I think many will order your recipes if these are sold in digital form at SFI. Here you may join for free and try it for a while: http://www.sfippa.com/15143335/FREE

Should you not like the atmosphere, you can always opt out with no strings attached. Have a nice week!

  4. I was wondering about your online wilton cake classes. Would i get a certificate when I completed a class? I would need to turn in samples, right?

    1. Hi Donna! I’m so sorry that I didn’t see your question sooner. Thank you for finding me here! I am no longer affiliated with Wilton, but when the classes were filmed with Craftsy a few years ago, certificates were not offered at the end. If you haven’t already followed my on YouTube, I sporadically post baking and decorating videos and I would love to see you over there: http://www.youtube.com/bethylou10

Have a question or something to add? Let's hear it!
