Well, hello there! I’m Beth and I’m super glad you’ve found yourself here!
In a nutshell, I love food. I love making it. I love eating it. I love learning about it. I love sharing it with others. Are you with me?
I’ve spent the last 13 years making delicious food, or making things that inspire other people to make food. I currently work as a freelance food stylist, recipe developer, and food content creator. My path to get here has been nothing short of delicious.
- I helped market the launch of a very cool food-tech start up company.
- I baked my way through 8 years in the test kitchen and content development department at Wilton Industries, where I created hundreds of sweet and savory recipes and appeared in dozens of YouTube videos and online cooking classes. I even sold products live on HSN – what a trip!
- In 2011, I won an episode of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars with my cake mentor, Milette Raz.
- I baked and decorated thousands and thousands of cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations at some of Chicago’s best bakeries. It’s pretty special to have played a part in so many parties. I still make cakes for my family celebrations, mostly to win the title of “most favorite aunt” from my nieces and nephew.
I live in Chicago with my boyfriend Geoff. He’s French, and if it’s possible, he loves food even more than I do. We cook often, raise a glass with friends and family whenever we can, and enjoy the amazing restaurant scene here. In the small spaces in between eating, cooking, and shopping for food, I love biking the Chicago lakefront in the early morning, taking long aimless walks, and reading David Sedaris. I’m learning to speak French, and will watch pretty much anything French I can find (with subtitles for now) on Netflix or Amazon Prime.
If you’ve found yourself here, welcome! Thanks for coming! Kick off your shoes and stay a while. I would love to know a little more about you. What’s your earliest food memory? (Mine is driving to McDonald’s with my Grandfather after he picked me up from preschool.) How do you like your steak cooked? (I’m a medium rare kinda gal.) What’s your go-to meal when you don’t feel like cooking? (Is stovetop popcorn and Sancerre a meal? I think so.) Your all time favorite food-centric movie? (I could watch Big Night over and over. Love Stanley Tucci!) Leave me a comment below!
